What daily living support involves

Daily living support is everyday help on your terms: personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, household routines, community access, medication reminders and transport to appointments. Where possible you'll see the same worker, so routines stay familiar.

It is usually funded as Assistance with Daily Life in Core Supports. How much support your plan covers is decided by the NDIA.

Daily living support around Parramatta

Parramatta is a city and major commercial centre in Greater Western Sydney, about 24 km west of the Sydney CBD on the banks of the Parramatta River. It is the seat of the City of Parramatta and hosts government offices and courts, with neighbouring suburbs including Westmead, North Parramatta, Harris Park and Rosehill.

Daily living support in Parramatta fits around the places your week already includes — the weekly shop at Westfield Parramatta, appointments at Westmead Hospital (Westmead), or time at Parramatta Park.

Parramatta is served by Parramatta station (T1 North Shore & Western Line; T2 Leppington & Inner West Line; T5 Cumberland Line); Parramatta Square, Church Street, Prince Alfred Square, Fennell Street and Robin Thomas light rail stops (L4 Westmead & Carlingford Line light rail), so appointments further afield can be planned with a support worker travelling alongside you, or with our transport service.

Household routines are set up around your home in Parramatta and the people you live with, and adjusted as your needs or plan change.

Questions

Daily living support in Parramatta: common questions

Do you provide daily living support in Parramatta?

Yes. We support people in Parramatta 2150 and nearby suburbs such as Harris Park, Westmead and North Parramatta. Which worker can help, and when, depends on the days and times you need, so tell us your suburb and routine when you enquire and we'll confirm what we can arrange.

Can daily living support include shopping at Westfield Parramatta?

Yes. Shopping is a common part of daily living support — writing a list, getting there, choosing and paying. If you shop at Westfield Parramatta, a support worker can come with you or, where your plan allows, help with it for you.

Will I see the same support worker?

Wherever possible, yes. A familiar worker who knows your routine makes daily support easier.

Is daily living support the same as personal care?

Personal care is one part of it. Daily living support also covers meals, household routines, medication reminders and getting out to appointments.
