About Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is help with daily tasks in a shared home, so you can live as independently as possible. The support is on site, built around the people who live there.

Western Sydney Services is expanding into Supported Independent Living as the next stage of its growth. The main WSS website lists the homes that are currently open and their vacancies — at the time of writing, a home in Merrylands. We don't list homes in every suburb, because we don't have them.

Homes are chosen and set up for real accessibility, privacy and comfort: private bedrooms alongside shared spaces, accessible design, and a support team you meet before you move in.

Who it's for

  • Participants with SIL funding, or seeking it, who want shared supported living
  • People moving out of the family home for the first time
  • Participants moving from another SIL provider

Funding

How funding usually works

Usually funded under: Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life (SIL)

SIL is funded in Core Supports when the NDIA agrees it is reasonable and necessary for you. The home itself (rent and board) is usually paid separately by the resident.

If you don't have SIL in your plan yet, your support coordinator or LAC can help you understand the process. We can explain how a home and its supports are set up.

General NDIS information. Your own plan decides what is funded — check it, or ask your plan manager, support coordinator or the NDIA (1800 800 110).

Getting started

What happens when you enquire

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

Send an enquiry through this website or call 02 8722 0799. A few details about the support you're looking for and your suburb is enough to start.

  2. 2

Talk it through with our team

A member of the WSS team contacts you the way you prefer. We'll talk about your goals, your plan and where you live — there's no obligation.

  3. 3

    Agree on your supports

Before anything starts, you agree on the supports, schedule and costs. NDIS participants usually do this through a service agreement.

  4. 4

    Support begins

Your supports start, and we adjust them with you as your needs, routines or plan change.
