What NDIS transport involves

Transport support gets you where you need to go: medical appointments, shopping, day programs, work, TAFE and community outings. Trips can be one-way, return or recurring, and support before, during and after the trip is available when you need it.

Our wheelchair-accessible vehicles have ramp access, room to stay seated in your own chair if you prefer, and space for up to four passengers plus the driver — so a family member or support worker can travel with you. How transport is funded depends on your plan, which the NDIA decides.

What's included

  • Ramp-access, wheelchair-accessible vehicles
  • Up to 4 passengers plus the driver
  • One-way, return or recurring trips
  • Support worker assistance before, during and after

NDIS transport around Parramatta

Parramatta is a city and major commercial centre in Greater Western Sydney, about 24 km west of the Sydney CBD on the banks of the Parramatta River. It is the seat of the City of Parramatta and hosts government offices and courts, with neighbouring suburbs including Westmead, North Parramatta, Harris Park and Rosehill.

Common trips from Parramatta include Westmead Hospital (Westmead) for appointments, Westfield Parramatta for shopping, the Parramatta NDIA office at Ground Floor, 2–12 Macquarie Street, Parramatta NSW 2150 and Parramatta Park. Tell us the pickup and drop-off, day and time, and whether anyone is travelling with you.

For some trips, getting to Parramatta station (T1 North Shore & Western Line; T2 Leppington & Inner West Line; T5 Cumberland Line); Parramatta Square, Church Street, Prince Alfred Square, Fennell Street and Robin Thomas light rail stops (L4 Westmead & Carlingford Line light rail) is all that's needed — a ride to the station and a support worker for the platform can be a step towards travelling more independently.

Accessible transport is Sydney-wide, with our home base in Western Sydney.

Questions

NDIS transport in Parramatta: common questions

Can you take me from Parramatta to Westmead Hospital?

Yes. Medical appointments are among the most common trips we do. Book one-way, return or recurring trips, and let us know about mobility aids and anyone travelling with you.

Do you provide NDIS transport in Parramatta?

Yes. We support people in Parramatta 2150 and nearby suburbs such as Harris Park, Westmead and North Parramatta. Which worker can help, and when, depends on the days and times you need, so tell us your suburb and routine when you enquire and we'll confirm what we can arrange.

Can I stay in my wheelchair during the trip?

Yes, if you prefer. The vehicles have ramp access and space for small to large wheelchairs.

How is transport funded?

It depends on your plan. Some plans include transport funding in Core Supports, and transport that's part of another support can sometimes be claimed with it.
