We work at your pace, in your own home and community: learn, practise, build confidence, then do more independently. It's funded from the Capacity Building budget in your plan, which the NDIA sets.

Capacity building and life skills around Guildford

Guildford is a Western Sydney suburb about 27 km west of the Sydney CBD, within Cumberland City Council. It developed around its railway station, with Woodville Road running through the area and neighbouring suburbs including Merrylands, Yennora, Old Guildford and South Granville.

Skills are easiest to learn where you'll use them, so capacity building in Guildford happens in your own home and around your own suburb.

For travel goals, that can mean practising the trip from Guildford station (T2 Leppington & Inner West Line; T5 Cumberland Line) together until it's just something you do.

Questions

Capacity building and life skills in Guildford: common questions

Can you help me learn to catch the train from Guildford?

Yes. Travel training usually means doing the same trip together — from Guildford to somewhere you go regularly — until you're confident doing it alone.

Do you provide capacity building support in Guildford?

Yes. We support people in Guildford 2161 and nearby suburbs such as Merrylands, Villawood and Granville. Which worker can help, and when, depends on the days and times you need, so tell us your suburb and routine when you enquire and we'll confirm what we can arrange.

How is capacity building different from daily living support?

Daily living support helps with tasks as they happen. Capacity building helps you learn to do them yourself, so the help you need changes over time.

Does it need to be in my plan?

Yes — it's funded from the Capacity Building budget. If a skill you want to build isn't in your plan, raise it at your plan review.
