NDIS support coordination

NDIS support coordination in Western Sydney

A support coordinator helps you turn your plan into real supports — finding providers, setting up agreements, and building your confidence to manage it yourself.

About support coordination

Support coordination is funding in some NDIS plans that pays for a support coordinator — someone whose job is to help you understand your plan, connect with the right providers and services, and use your funding well.

A good coordinator works for you, not for a provider. If WSS coordinates your plan, you're still free to choose any provider for your other supports. Our job is to help you compare options and make the choice that suits you.

Who it's for

  • Participants who have support coordination funded in their plan
  • People starting a new plan who want help getting supports in place
  • Participants whose current coordinator isn't working out
  • Families who want one point of contact for a complex set of supports
What's included

How we can help

Making sense of your plan

We go through your plan with you — what each budget is for, what you can spend it on, and what your goals mean in practice.

Finding and comparing providers

We search for providers that match your needs and location, and help you compare them before you commit.

Setting up service agreements

We help you set up and understand service agreements, so you know what you're agreeing to before supports start.

One point of contact

You have one person to call when something changes or isn't working, instead of chasing several providers yourself.

Building your own capacity

Over time, we help you build the skills and confidence to coordinate more of your supports yourself.

Preparing for plan reviews

We help you gather what you need for your plan reassessment, including how your supports have been used.

Funding

How funding usually works

Usually funded under: Capacity Building — Support Coordination

Support coordination isn't automatically included in every plan. Whether it's funded, and at what level, depends on your circumstances and goals.

There are three levels. Support Connection helps you understand your plan and connect with supports. Coordination of Supports is more hands-on, building your ability to coordinate supports and helping resolve problems. Specialist Support Coordination is for situations with higher complexity or risk, delivered by a specialist practitioner.

If your plan doesn't include support coordination and you think you need it, you can raise it with the NDIA or your Local Area Coordinator, including at a plan reassessment.

General NDIS information. Your own plan decides what is funded — check it, or ask your plan manager, support coordinator or the NDIA (1800 800 110).

Getting started

What happens when you enquire

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

Send an enquiry through this website or call 02 8722 0799. A few details about the support you're looking for and your suburb is enough to start.

  2. 2

Talk it through with our team

A member of the WSS team contacts you the way you prefer. We'll talk about your goals, your plan and where you live — there's no obligation.

  3. 3

    Agree on your supports

Before anything starts, you agree on the supports, schedule and costs. NDIS participants usually do this through a service agreement.

  4. 4

    Support begins

Your supports start, and we adjust them with you as your needs, routines or plan change.

Questions

Common questions

Is support coordination included in every NDIS plan?

No. It's allocated based on your individual circumstances, not included by default. Check the Capacity Building section of your plan.

What's the difference between a support coordinator and a Local Area Coordinator?

A Local Area Coordinator (LAC) works with the NDIA's partner organisations and helps people access the scheme and understand their plan. A support coordinator is funded in your plan and works with you to put supports in place and keep them working.

Can I change my support coordinator?

Yes. You can change at any time. Your new coordinator can help with the handover.

If WSS is my coordinator, do I have to use WSS for other supports?

No. Your coordinator should help you choose the right provider for each support, whoever that is.
